Sheet Metal Mechanic Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Sheet Metal Mechanic to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Cutting and threading pipe, using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and pipe-threading machine;
- Studying building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations;
- Fasten seams and joints together with welds, bolts, cement, rivets, solder, caulks, metal drive clips, and bonds;
- Fabricate and alter parts using shears, hammers, punches, and drills;
- Install heating and air conditioning ducts, pipes, tubes, furnace casings;
- Smooth over rough edges with file;
- Weld, solder, or rivet ducts together;
- Bend ducts to form shapes;
- Cut sheet metal by hand or using power shears;
- Operate fabricating machines such as shears, brakes, presses, forming rolls to cut bend, block and form or straighten materials;
- Inspect assemblies and installation for conformance to specifications;
- Use scribers, dividers, and squares to mark dimensions on materials;
- Interpret blueprints to decide where ducts will go;
- Analyze and resolve work problems;
- Install ready-made ducts.
Requirements:
- High standard of integrity and professionalism;
- Strong working knowledge of job site safety as well as ability to complete a company specific safety orientation;
- Drug free at all times;
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints;
- 4 years of experience in commercial/industrial Sheet Metal installation;
- Possess a mechanical aptitude;
- 4 years of experience in commercial carpentry;
- Ability to cut fiberglass duct and fittngs;
- Experience working with hand tools and power tools;
- Must have Sheet Metal tools;
- Ability of knowing state and local codes;
- Experience working with equipment such as: boom lifts, scissor lifts, and forklifts;
- Understand schematic diagrams, blueprints and other specifications required by our client.
