Afterschool Teacher Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Afterschool Teacher to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in public-relations events sponsored by The Sunshine House / The Quest Zone and represent the company in a positive, professional manner;
- Demonstrate through daily actions and work habits the desire to provide outstanding customer service and competitive value;
- Teach skills and activities that transfer into continuous learning outside of the afterschool program;
- Other duties as assigned to meet the needs of our program;
- Assisting with providing maximum opportunities daily that are conducive to learning;
- Infuse technology with project based learning activities to build knowledge and enhance creative expression;
- Assisting with the ordered arrangement, appearance, and learning environment of the afterschool program;
- Motivate children to be physically active by implementing a variety of recreational activities;
- Communicate clearly and appropriately with children, parents, staff and others;
- Plan and coordinate field trips, parent events, and other school-wide events;
- Serve as part of larger Mission Graduates team;
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor;
- Provide overall support of the program, including support for field trips, special events and parent workshops;
- Maintain accurate youth files and records, i.e. attendance, student behavior, and other evaluation forms to track student progress;
- Participate in staff development, team and supervision meetings.
Requirements:
- Must maintain state in-service training requirements;
- Experience in teaching and/or after-school programming;
- Understanding of youth development principles;
- Experience working in communities of color with low-income populations;
- BA/BS required;
- Candidate must be flexible, well organized and able to take initiative;
- Bilingual Spanish/English fluency required;
- Current CPR certification (or attained within 2 months of employment);
- TB test clearance mandatory prior to hire;
- Must be able to relate effectively to diverse community and demonstrate understanding of cultural diversity;
- Two years proven ability and experience working with urban youth;
- Passion for working with children and youth is a must, as well as a willingness to explore alternative, non-institutional teaching methods.
