Assistant Preschool Teacher Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Assistant Preschool Teacher to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Lead Teacher to create and deliver lesson plans, implement school curriculum, and assess developmental needs of students;
- Teacher communicates regularly with parents, in person and through the use of technology, meeting (or exceeding) parent expectations;
- Responsible for ensuring that all parent, children, and classroom staff concerns are appropriately addressed;
- Completes all academy and classroom paperwork: for example, daily notes, student accident reports, attendance reports;
- Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, etc.) to teach children;
- Daily planning, management, and supervision of the classroom and children;
- Building teamwork;
- Designing an appropriate room arrangement to support the goals and developmental level of the children in the classroom;
- Meeting the individual needs of the children- diapers, feeding, etc;
- Effectively and professionally communicating to Parents and fellow staff members;
- Assist the PT in an Early Childhood Education (ECE) setting;
- Assist in the set up and break down of preschool sites and events;
- Teacher communicates regularly with parents, in person and through the u se of technology, meeting (or exceeding) parent expectations;
- May assist in the assessment of participants;
- Assist the PT in planning and providing indoor and outdoor activities that foster learning.
Requirements:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Must be 18 years of age or older;
- Previous experience in a licensed preschool or early development center;
- Candidates must meet all licensing qualifications for State of New Jersey and possess proper qualifications and certifications;
- Must have prior experience working with preschool age children;
- Must be able to lift no less than 40 pounds on a consistent basis to at least waist high;

- High School Diploma or GED;
- Strong written and communication skills;
- Ability to use arms, hands, legs, and feet, with or without corrective devices; this includes the ability to evacuate the building during emergencies;
- Ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid;
- Ability to speak and be understood under normal circumstances;
- Ability to handle crisis situations, especially where children are involved;
- Ability to respond immediately to emergency situations.
