Our company is looking for a Billing and Collections Specialist to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with shared drive;
  • Maintaining Excel spreadsheets;
  • Preparation of quotes, invoices and other financial documents;
  • Other duties as assigned;
  • Work with providers to correct the diagnosis or procedure codes so that the claim can be processed;
  • Work with other offices to obtain necessary information to get claims processed;
  • Work with patients and guarantors to secure payment on outstanding account balances;
  • Other duties may be assigned;
  • Update the patient account record to identify actions taken on the account;
  • Review all remittance advices for accuracy to identify errors or questionable data;
  • Write appeals and include supporting documentation;
  • Identify problem accounts and escalate as appropriate;
  • Identify coding or billing problems from EOBs and work to correct the errors in a timely manner;
  • Sort and file correspondence;
  • Works with Rebate Accounting to identify issues to payment collection and reconciliation.

Requirements:

  • Possess a High School diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start);
  • Comprehensive wound etiology understanding as it pertains to the 3M appeals process and Medicare process;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Insurance Appeals process;
  • One (1) year of experience in Medicare appeals in a private, public, government, or military environment;
  • Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution;
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook);
  • Two (2) years of experience in medical collections in a private, public, government, or military environment;
  • 6+ months of experience in a billing or collections environment;
  • Proficiency in English;
  • Microsoft Access experience;
  • Two years experience in a billing role, preferably medical billing; collections experience a plus;
  • SQL experience;
  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • Sufficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook);
  • Prior work experience in a revenue cycle management role.
