Head Start Teacher Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Head Start Teacher to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Adapt curriculum based on the children’s developmental level;
- Responsible for the official documents of the Program, (lesson plans, attendance books, and observation book, reports);
- Provide input on children’s textbooks and educational materials;
- Prepare monthly statistical report;
- Prepare classroom educational material, create inviting learning atmosphere;
- Assist with daily personal hygiene of the children such as diapering, feeding, tooth brushing, toileting, hand-washing, and resting;
- Participate in curricular and extracurricular school activities, orientation and lectures to parents;
- curriculum;
- Observe the accomplishments of the children on a regular basis, through the use of daily written;
- Work together with the teacher assistant as a team, in assisting with planning and implementing Observation Record);
- writing a daily lesson plan that specifies a daily schedule toward the achievement of specific;
- Providing guidance and support to teaching team (Teacher Assistant, Classroom Assistant);
- Plan, implement, and update ongoing individual learning plans for each child in the classroom;
- Home Visits, Parent/Teacher Conferences, Family Fun Nights, Reading is Fundamental (RIF) activities;
- Assessing the developmental progress of children through Teaching Strategies Gold.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education, Master’s preferred;
- Current physical examination and TB screen documentation upon hire;
- Commitment to fostering and inclusive multicultural environment reflective of student and family backgrounds;
- Criminal background check;
- Current CPR and first aid certification;
- Spoken and written fluency in English/Spanish; English/French preferred;
- NYS Teaching Certification Birth-2, or N-6;
- Central State Registry Clearance;
- Previous Head Start or early childhood experience preferred;
- Computer literacy required;
- Previous professional experience working with preschoolers;
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development or a bachelor’s in a related field with experience teaching preschool age children.
