The Kindergarten Teacher evaluates and monitors student’s performance. Prepares lesson plans and instructs children between ages 4-6 years. Being a Kindergarten Teacher is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Requires a bachelor’s degree in area of specialty and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. In addition, Kindergarten Teacher relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision; typically reports to the principal. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.   • Partner with Instructional Coaches for individualized professional development;
  • Guide students in their social-emotional development, maintaining expectations and support for positive and productive student behavior;
  • Maintain records of individual student progress and achievement;
  • Must exemplify a passion and desire for growth and development;
  • Establish and maintain a healthy and trusting learning environment, fostering nurturing relationships with students;
  • Update documentation of current curriculum, instruction, and assessment;
  • Regularly communicate with families about classroom happenings and student progress;
  • Participate fully in ongoing professional development;
  • Participate in the school community, including faculty and committee work, school duties, and activities such as clubs and assemblies;
  • Establish strong relationships with students, their families and colleagues;
  • Competency in use of educational technology tools;
  • Promote safety in the classroom and encourage school-wide positive behavior initiatives;
  • Demonstrate excellence in classroom management skills;
  • Must be committed to student achievement and use data to drive instruction;

Requirements:

  • Candidates with experience working with at-risk students – preferred, if applicable to the school;
  • Must hold a valid teacher license in the subject and/or grade level for the state in which you are applying;
  • TEFL/TESOL Certificate or professional teaching license;
  • Experience with Wilson “Fundations” phonics program preferred;
  • Proven track record of assisting students with academic gains;
  • Native English speaker;
  • Must hold or be working towards a valid teacher license in the subject and/or grade level for the state in which you are applying for;
  • Must be committed to working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure a positive learning community is established;
  • Energetic, adaptable, and open to Chinese culture;
  • Excellent knowledge of child development, latest education theories and practices, and current trends in education and professional development;
  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, Masters preferred;
  • Familiarity with Lucy Calkins’ Reading and Writing programs;
  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience, preferably Kindergarten level;
  • Kindergarten experience or experience with young children preferred;
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
