Our company is looking for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Full Time Hours | 37.5.
Requirements:
- Active or eligible Teaching license for Washington;
- Experience working in schools and with children;
- State Licensure/Certification;
- Hold current teaching credential for visually impaired or be eligible to apply for an intern VI credential;
- Able to work with a group of professionals and coordinate multiple schedules;
- Able to transport between multiple work-sites on a daily basis;
- Knowledgeable in contracted braille and assistive technology;
- Consistent and regular attendance required;
- Experience and comfort with educational technology;
- Demonstrates knowledge and experience with technology applications as they relate to instructional resources and strategies;
- Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills, and interpersonal and organizational skills;
- Eligible for a NYS Teaching Certificate, or equivalent;
- Experience working with students with severe visual impairments; ability to teach Braille;
- Demonstrates knowledge of federal law (IDEA), state law, and national standards related to special education;
- Master’s Degree in Special Education or related degree.
