Cocktail Server Job Description

Cocktail Server serves cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages to customers. Has knowledge of bar supplies and common drinks and makes suggestions to customers. Being a Cocktail Server may require a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Cocktail Server may require 0-1 year of general work experience. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area.

Responsibilities:

  • Delivering food to tables;
  • Delivering drinks and food;
  • Communicating orders clearly with the bar staff and kitchen;
  • Serving guests cocktails in the library;
  • Presenting the menu and helping customers select food;
  • Handling Togo Orders;
  • Serving with a large section quickly and efficiently;
  • Delivering a great customer experience;
  • Knowledge of cocktails, wine, and beer;
  • Closing out guests in a timely fashion.

Requirements:

  • Being a motivated self-starter;
  • The ability to lift trays of beverages or food items weighing up to 30 lbs. on a regular basis;
  • Overseeing the look and feel of your area and ensuring that the cleanliness of the bar and its surroundings are at their peak at all times;
  • The ability to help create an energized bar atmosphere through friendly and personalized service;
  • The legal ability to serve alcohol in the State/Province;
  • Being conscientious and driven to consistently serve the guests with the utmost professionalism and courtesy;
  • Course work or certification/education in restaurant or business field are highly desired;
  • The ability to anticipate customer needs, and change course of action accordingly;
  • Food safety certification and/or alcohol service training recommended;
  • Knowledge of drink preparation;
  • The ability to work a flexible schedule, including shift work, weekends, and holidays;
  • Fine Dining Experience a plus;
  • Able to multitask efficiently;
  • Flexible Schedule;
  • Strong organizational skills.
