Restaurant Host/Hostess Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Restaurant Host/Hostess to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Observe and assists in preparing unoccupied tables for customers by wiping surface top, removing debris, and ensure seats are;
- Answers phone calls and gives basic information on reservations, availability, restaurant hours and services;
- Take orders over the phone and pack prepared take-out orders;
- Accurately quote wait times to patrons;
- Greet patrons, and if needed, confirm reservations, take reservations, and track occupancy chart for space;
- Answer patron questions regarding menu items; recommend or suggest items as needed;
- Alert and call guests to host stand when the table is bussed and cleaned;
- Works with a sense of urgency to anticipate guest and team members needs when the opportunity arises;
- Constantly provides guests with accurate information about the venue and property as well as entertainment offered in each;
- Comply with all state and federal liquor laws;
- Completes to-go orders;
- Maintains knowledge of the venue floor plan and table numbers, seating the room evenly and consistently per venue management’s instruction;
- Perform all other duties as requested;
- Communicates with management, and service staff immediately to rectify any and all guest needs and requests;
- Ensure a clean and safe work environment that is in compliance with the District health codes at all times.
Requirements:
- Friendly “people-person”; polite and courteous to all patrons;
- High school degree or equivalent; or relevant work experience;
- Works well as part of a team and on individual tasks;
- Physically able to stand and move during the length of shift; able to bend and kneel through shift;
- Legally able to serve alcohol;
- Willing to work nights and weekends;
- Must pass background check;
- Eager to learn and grow with restaurant;
- Able to perform basic mathematics;
- Friendly personality a must;
- Previous hotel experience a plus, but not required;
- A friendly disposition and the ability to work as a team with others;
- Ability to work Weekends and Holidays a must;
- Previous experience a plus, but not required – we will train the right person;
- You must be able to pass a thorough background check and drug screening.
