Restaurant Host Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Restaurant Host to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Full-service restaurant experience preferred, but not required;
- AM & PM slots available;
- Open weekend availability required;
- Answers all questions regarding the menus accurately;
- Communicate with in coming/ prior shift as to outstanding tables;
- Enters client’s reservation accurately in the reservation system;
- Delivers food and wine menu in a friendly and professional manner in accordance with hotel standards;
- Maintain a clean and organized work area;
- Verifies if guest is in house or walk in patron;
- Informs manager of any guest complaints, requests or problems;
- Takes restaurant reservations accurately;
- Utilizes selling techniques to up sell;
- Reports any damages, discrepancies and or malfunction of equipment to manager;
- Follows all safety and sanitation procedures that pertain to the job;
- Acknowledge guest need, anticipate guest needs and always respond promptly to maintain positive guest relations at all times.
Requirements:
- Must be available for morning shifts starting at 5:45am M-F and 6:00am on the weekends;
- Must be able to exercise confidentiality and discretion;
- Must have basic knowledge of arithmetic;
- Recycling products, where possible;
- May require some PM shifts starting at 4:00pm;
- Must be able to follow directions with focus to detail;
- Following all uniform guidelines;
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time;
- Maintaining a well-groomed appearance (“having a plan”);
- Must be have knowledge of restaurant reservation system;
- Must be able to communicate effectively;
- Practicing all general safety & sanitation standards;
- Must be energetic and outgoing;
- Must have the ability to input data in the POS system;
- Remaining calm in a hectic, fast-paced atmosphere.
