Our company is looking for a Animal Lab Technician to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Able to work in a hot/humid environment while performing repetitive tasks;
  • Coordinates with Customer Service on scheduling and order status;
  • Comfortable working with live animals is a must;
  • May coordinate limited production activities in the temporary absence of the Supervisor;
  • Order and operate equipment and use supplies according to safety guidelines;
  • Breeds, raises and cares for small research animals. Follows proper breeding and animal care procedures;
  • Strictly follow all procedures necessary to maintain the isolator and/or barrier room barrier;
  • May pull and pack animals for shipping to customers, as assigned;
  • Clean / wash cages, replace bedding, ensure water and food is properly maintained and stocked in each cage;
  • Proficient in the use and understanding of basic laboratory equipment; performs maintenance and troubleshoots instrument issues;
  • Maintains training as needed. Accepts responsibility for acquiring knowledge and experience to support continual personal development;
  • Monitors animal behavior and physical attributes to ensure animal health and confirm appropriate phenotype; reports any findings. Ensures biosecurity;
  • Communicates proactively with supervisor and team members on frequent basis to ensure timely product release;
  • Interprets data output to determine conformance with product specifications and records results;
  • Understands, implements, and maintains a safe work environment for themselves and others in accordance with procedural requirements.

Requirements:

  • Proven track record of teamwork, adaptability, innovation, and integrity;
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures;
  • AALAS Certification with appropriate experience;
  • Must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship;
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Animal Science or related field, with 2-4 years lab experience desired;
  • Exceptional interpersonal, leadership and project management skills;
  • Associate degree with at least 5 years of directly related lab experience;
  • Excellent problem-solving, written, and verbal skills;
  • Works to maintain a positive work environment and culture;
  • Basic computer proficiency of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
