Billing Specialist Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Billing Specialist to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Assist new team members in learning their role;
- Process third party billings via the customer’s web portal’s daily, weekly or monthly based on contractual agreement with customer;
- Implement department coding of and charging all laser and surgical procedures;
- Handle billing compliant issues from patients and insurance carriers;
- Perform other tasks assigned while working in a fast paced environment;
- Follow up and pursue collection of outstanding invoices;
- Input work plan budget and fee information into database;
- Work a flexible schedule – shifts will possibly start and end outside of normal business hours including weekends;
- Perform other tasks as requested by the Physician and Practice Administrator;
- Research and resolve billing issues, including unbilled balances;
- Heavy use of basic mathematical calculations;
- Weekly follow up with suppliers that are missing timesheets in VMS system;
- Review all rates prior to billing the customer;
- Documents all actions and maintains permanent records of patient accounts;
- Self-check information before Audit process.
Requirements:
- Detail oriented;
- Must pass background check;
- Able type a minimum of 30 WPM;
- Strong analytical skills, able to multitask;
- Knowledge and understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, Insurance;
- WAWF (Wide Area Work Force) experience;
- Dependable;
- A professional, courteous and team-oriented attitude;
- Strong organizational skills;
- Strong oral and written communication skills;
- Experience with conducting Contract Closeout Billing -Maintaining/Analyzing, and Project Unbilled;
- One year minimum billing experience;
- High level of dependability;
- Recent experience in billing in CostPoint;
- Successful candidates will be required to pass a post offer, pre-employment drug screen.
