Certified Nurse Midwife provides professional care for patients with obstetric and gynecologic needs. Assists patients in labor and delivery, as well as postpartum care. Being a Certified Nurse Midwife ensures safety and health of mother and child and identifies need for additional care. Works in conjunction with a practicing physician. Additionally, Certified Nurse Midwife requires a bachelor’s degree. Must be a Registered Nurse, and certified as Nurse Midwife. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Responsibilities:
- POSTPARTUM Provides health supervision, care, teaches family planning, and prescribes contraception to women during the postpartum period.
Requirements:
- Follows guidelines set forth in Legacy’s Values in Action;
- Consults appropriately with consulting physicians;
- Ability to work with people in a diplomatic and tactful manner, utilizing effective leadership and group process skills;
- Current applicable state license as a Registered Nurse/ Nurse Midwife/ Nurse Practitioner with Prescriptive Privileges (NP-PP) required;
- Current CPR Certification;
- Follows all organizational, regulatory and human resource policies and procedures;
- National Certification as a Nurse Midwife (MW) required;
- Provides collaborative care or referral to medical management as appropriate;
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment;
- Practices full scope of Midwifery;
- Three (3) years of experience as a C.N.M. with in the last three (3) years preferred;
- Full scope women’s healthcare and midwifery experience preferred;
- Able to conduct research;
- Bilingual preferred but not required;
- Practice includes full participation in outpatient and inpatient care.
