Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates complete working knowledge of routine radiographic equipment within the department;
- Maintains confidentiality of information pertaining to clients, physicians, employees, and Mercy business;
- Describes procedure to patient and/or family members;
- Performs office procedures in absence of clerical support personnel;
- Assumes charge position as required in absence of supervisory personnel;
- Actively participates in department meetings, committees, conferences, and in-services;
- Retrieves and calls reports to physician offices, nursing units, surgery, ER, etc. upon requests;
- Recognizes emergency situations, initiates code procedures and administers first aid/CPR as needed;
- Completes all paperwork where applicable including consent forms;
- Maintains ongoing education that includes annual training on safe radiation practices in the radiology environment;
- Practices sterile technique and prevents cross contamination to patients and equipment;
- Transports patients to and from the department;
- Is knowledgeable of and actively participates in improving patient safety and reducing risk to patients;
- Provides radiation protection to patient, staff and self;
- Confirms patient identification and introduces self to patients.
Requirements:
- Participates in standby on call coverage of department as needed;
- Must be ARRT registered and registered by the State of Iowa;
- Must Maintain BLS certification;
- Demonstrates general working knowledge of computers and a willingness to learn department specific software;
- Demonstrates correct and adequate anatomical positioning skills;
- Is able to perform a variety of duties characterized by frequent change;
- Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment;
- Demonstrates working knowledge of Radiology PACS;
- Is able to communicate effectively with all members of the health care team;
- Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and care with the ability to inspire and motivate others;
- Prefer one year of experience in hospital setting;
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide service/care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
