Our company is looking for a Genetic Counselor to join our team.
Responsibilities:

- Identifies appropriate research opportunities for patients; and if desired by patients, facilitates patient participation;
- Assist laboratory revenue cycle coordinator with the establishment of CPT coding for genetic tests to ensure regulatory compliance;

- The successful team member has a commitment to leveraging diversity and inclusion in support of quality care;
- Proficient in the Core Skills of Genetic Counseling as outline by the National society of Genetic Counselors;
- Provides genetic counseling services and coordinates care for prenatal, pediatric, specialty genetic clinics;
- Provides education on the natural history, management, genetics, and inheritance of genetic disorders with language tailored to patients and families;
- Coordinates several research studies, including disease specific multisite studies;
- Provides written documentation/reports of test results, summaries, recommendations, and support groups;
- In-depth knowledge of healthcare delivery;
- Opportunity to co-author journal publications and present results at national meetings;
- Masters all necessary functions in Epic or current Lurie Children’s electronic medical record software;
- Helps coordinate general and specialty genetics clinics as assigned;
- Coordinates genetic testing of patient and appropriate family members, including obtaining insurance authorization.
Requirements:
- Education: Master’s degree in genetic counseling or related field required;
- Experience: One year of cancer genetic counseling experience preferred;
- Experience in pediatric genetics preferred, but not required;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Working knowledge of database software and basic statistical analysis preferred;
- Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent in education and experience, plus 4 years of related experience;
- One year of clinical experience preferred;
- Master’s degree in human genetics or genetic counselor;
- Certification from the American Board of Medical Genetics or American Board of Genetic Counselors.
