Health and Safety Specialist Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Health and Safety Specialist to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Additional duties as assigned;
- Review plans and specifications for new equipment and projects to ensure they meet safety requirements;
- Lead and support short and long-term safety and health targets and strategies;
- Identify and correct potential hazards by inspecting facilities, machinery, and safety equipment;
- Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, regulations, and industrial processes;
- Evaluate the effectiveness of various industrial control mechanisms;
- Provide periodic after-hours safety support in an on-call safety role;
- Conduct safety inspections and audits;
- Assist and provide input within the Workers Compensation Program including coordination with management and the company’s insurance provider;
- Develop or review and update safety program documentation;
- Contribute and participate in safety meetings at various levels from project based to the Corporate Safety Council;
- Establish a high standard of behavior for all employees and managers that are reinforced through feedback and coaching;
- Implement or recommend control measures for exposure to hazardous materials or conditions;
- Conduct health and safety training sessions as assigned;
- Provide functional expertise and strategic direction within all levels of the organization to achieve our vision of an incident-free workplace.
Requirements:
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification preferred;
- Equivalent Education Required – B.S. degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related science/engineering discipline is preferred;
- 1+ years of related experience in a manufacturing environment;
- Bilingual (Spanish) is strongly preferred;
- Minimum of 1+ years of experience with OSHA regulations.
