Our company is looking for a Health and Safety Specialist to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Additional duties as assigned;
  • Review plans and specifications for new equipment and projects to ensure they meet safety requirements;
  • Lead and support short and long-term safety and health targets and strategies;
  • Identify and correct potential hazards by inspecting facilities, machinery, and safety equipment;
  • Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, regulations, and industrial processes;
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of various industrial control mechanisms;
  • Provide periodic after-hours safety support in an on-call safety role;
  • Conduct safety inspections and audits;
  • Assist and provide input within the Workers Compensation Program including coordination with management and the company’s insurance provider;
  • Develop or review and update safety program documentation;
  • Contribute and participate in safety meetings at various levels from project based to the Corporate Safety Council;
  • Establish a high standard of behavior for all employees and managers that are reinforced through feedback and coaching;
  • Implement or recommend control measures for exposure to hazardous materials or conditions;
  • Conduct health and safety training sessions as assigned;
  • Provide functional expertise and strategic direction within all levels of the organization to achieve our vision of an incident-free workplace.

Requirements:

  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification preferred;
  • Equivalent Education Required – B.S. degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related science/engineering discipline is preferred;
  • 1+ years of related experience in a manufacturing environment;
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is strongly preferred;
  • Minimum of 1+ years of experience with OSHA regulations.
