Our company is looking for a Hospice Aide to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Report any changes in patient condition to RN or Director of Nursing;
  • Attend and participate in interdisciplinary team meeting as requested;
  • Attend at least 12 hours of in-service training per year;
  • Practice universal precautions when caring for patients;
  • Demonstrate listening skills and offer encouragement when appropriate;
  • Provide essential personal care assistance to patients consistent with policies and procedures of Ambercare;
  • Provide emotional support and compassionate care to patients and families;
  • Document care given in accordance with policies and procedures of Ambercare;
  • Take and record vital signs as directed by the Nurse Case Manager;
  • Adhere to work schedule and maintain good punctuality and attendance record E-210;
  • Provide incidental household services as are essential to the patient’s well-being at home;
  • Adhere to dress code.

Requirements:

  • Furnish one or more active telephone numbers that enables management to contact employee should an unexpected change of work location be required;
  • Experience in caring for the terminally ill preferred;
  • Must have six (6) months experience in home care, hospital, and/or long term care;
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred;
  • Must have reliable transportation available during work hours. Vehicle must be properly registered and insured in accordance with state law;
  • Education: High school graduate or GED required;
  • Successful completion of Ambercare Hospice aide competency exam and skills demonstration;
  • Must have a valid NM Driver’s license;
  • Licensure or Certification: North Carolina Certification (Active). Current CPR certification;
  • Must possess current CPR, First Aid Certification, CNA Certification in the State of New Mexico;
  • Must be able to perform physical demands of patient care including lifting and transferring of patients;
  • Be eighteen (18) years of age or older;
  • Satisfactory completion of background check in accordance with State of New Mexico Caregivers Criminal History Screening Program;
  • Certified in the State of New Mexico to provide Hospice aide services;
  • Satisfactory completion of pre-employment health screening if applicable, including drug screening.
