Our company is looking for a Medical Coder to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Submit billable data to insurance providers;
- Audit coding batches as deemed necessary;
- Work claims and claim denials to ensure maximum reimbursement for services provided;
- Possess extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology;
- Possess strong organizational and time management skills;
- Determines new techniques and advancements to ensure the accurate application of medical coding on the processing of medical bills;
- Identifying opportunities for more complete documentation of medical encounters based on chart review and analytics provided by software;
- Participates in OWCP projects related to containment of medical costs;
- Resolve billing issues while applying excellent customer service in a timely manner;
- Conducting audits and coding reviews proactively;
- Develops training materials for staff as necessary;
- Reviewing open accounts for collection efforts;
- Collect customer payments in accordance with payment due dates;
- Communicating with insurance companies regarding disputes or appeals as it relates to coding;
- Chart reviews to audit accuracy of provider coding.
Requirements:
- Able to type 40 wpm;
- Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR);
- Computer proficient with a strong understanding of Microsoft Office applications;
- 2+ years’ experience as a Medical Coding/Billing Specialist;
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- 2+ years of experience with charge entry, denial management;
- Proactive and collaborative working style, cross functionally;
- Ability to maintain confidential information;
- 3+ years of work experience as Medical Coder;
- Excellent customer service skills;
- Strong administrative and communication skills;
- Highest level of ethics and integrity;
- Ability to pass NACI background check;
- Certified Professional Coder;
- High School Diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent at a minimum.
