Medical Office Assistant Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Medical Office Assistant to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Direct calls to the appropriate department;
- Process blood specimen for in house or send out processing;
- Answering phones, filing, and storing patient’s files;
- Verifying insurance coverage and obtaining prior authorization as needed;
- Working on phones, confirming appointments; acting as the primary contact between customer and client;
- Providing support to management and other departments by maintaining spreadsheets and other administrative duties as needed;
- Maintaining database accuracy by updating customer records;
- Verify insurance coverage and assist the provider with processing claims;
- Schedule lab tests and radiology;
- Administer screening tests and point of care testing when appropriate;
- Inform patients of general billing issues;
- Will provide personalized administrative and office support in a well-organized and timely manner;
- Schedule appointments and confirm appointments two days in advance;
- Direct customers to the lab area for scheduled blood work and other testing;
- Data entry into the Electronic Medical Record, including diagnosis codes, vital signs, uploading documents, insurance information.
Requirements:
- Medical Assisting Certification, Medical Office Training, or Phlebotomy Certification;
- One year of medical office, medical assisting, phlebotomy, and/or laboratory training;
- Self-directed and able to work independently;
- High school diploma required;
- Friendly and courteous at all times;
- Use consistent good judgment and discretion;
- Must be able to work well with staff, management and physicians;
- Must possess excellent communication and customer service skills;
- Strong planning, organizational, and communication skills are essential;
- Ability to read, understands, and follow oral and written instruction;
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- No experience necessary.
