Medication Aide Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Medication Aide to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Attends all staff meetings, trainings, and educational classes as required;
- Supervises the Residents medications under the direction of the Resident Care Director according to established procedures;
- Helps resident at mealtimes and monitors resident’s eating habits;
- Communicates with residents and families regarding care;
- Helps resident to and from daily activities;
- Cleans and organizes the resident’s room and assists with laundry;
- Dispenses medications under the direction of a licensed nurse according to established procedures;
- Measures and records vital signs, such as temperature, pulse, etc., and reports any changes in condition;
- Ensures that required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards;
- Helps resident with all personal care functions as needed;
- Performs other duties as assigned;
- Determines and records effectiveness of medications in a timely and accurate manner as required by state and federal regulations.
Requirements:
- Ability to read, write and speak English;
- Must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly. Must respect that the work environment is the Resident’s home;
- Must meet all health requirements;
- Exceptional organizational skills;
- Must practice and promote Policies and Procedures, Mission Statement, Values and Goals;
- Must be honest, fair, ethical, dependable, respect confidentiality and the rights and privacy of others and local, state and federal laws;
- Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed;
- High School Diploma/GED or 1-2 years of relevant experience;
- Medication Administration training/certification per state requirements;
- Work with integrity in all interactions;
- Work harmoniously with other employees and develop/maintain good employee relations and employee morale;
- Exemplify and be an influential team player;
- Experience as a Medication Technician (Med Tech)/Certified Medication Aide (CMA) in senior living;
- Strive for excellence in all aspects of the job;
- Experienced Caregiver or Certified Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA) per state requirements.
