Nephrology Nurse Practitioner Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Nephrology Nurse Practitioner to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Work in collaboration with a physician-led team;
- Develop and implement clinical education material;
- Effectively communicate with site staff;
- Partner with internal and external team members to serve as a subject expert on assigned projects;
- Participate in protocol development and review;
- Support fellow associates with study related activities; and,
- Works cooperatively with MD’s, other NP’s, RN’s and other allied health personnel;
- Monitors the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions, prescription of pharmacological agents and treatments and non- pharmacological therapies;
- Provides direction to various allied health staff and performs comprehensive assessment;
- Provides counseling and education to meet patient needs;
- Formulates a diagnostic impression; and develops and implements a treatment plan;
- Orders, conducts and interprets diagnostic tests;
- Performs additional related duties as needed;
- Performs and assists in biopsies and dialysis catheter placement.
Requirements:
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, and Excel;
- Prior clinical research experience preferred;
- At least 2 years of clinical experience as a medical provider with nephrology experience preferred; and,
- Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements;
- Ability to manage time and stress effectively, and adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting;
- Master’s degree plus at least one to two years of related experience, or equivalent in education and experience;
- Flexibility to adjust schedule to meet patient and staff needs;
- Current New York State RN and NP license, as well as board certification;
- Two to five years of clinical experience in Nephrology;
- Primary care, acute care, and/or ICU experience;
- Current DEA, Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications;
- Excellent oral, verbal and written communication skills;
- Demonstrated leadership ability;
- Strong computer skills in an Electronic Medical Record.
