Our company is looking for a Neurosurgery Physician Assistant to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicating with patients and families;
  • If the need arises, may be asked to cover other Neurosurgery practices within the HHC System;
  • Help busy practice with paperwork, entering orders, and coordinating appropriate referrals;
  • Working with conjunction of triage nurse to triage incoming clinical calls and post-operative calls as well as incoming referrals;
  • Follow up after procedures performed;
  • Follow up on treatment plans;
  • On call duties including emergency call and telephone call;
  • Collaborate with attending physicians;
  • Hospital rounds to support the needs of the practice;
  • Efficiently assists any covering physician with surgery-related cases in the Operating Room or minor procedures as needed;
  • Assist in performing physical examinations, obtains medical histories, records pertinent data as required;
  • Prescribe medication, including controlled substances as delegated in collaborative practice agreement;
  • Performs basic/advanced life support;
  • Order, and interpret laboratory and radiology tests;
  • Performs duties that are required to meet CMS and other NYS regulatory guidelines for patient management.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of one year of experience in Surgery;
  • Must have proven ability to work in a team environment;
  • Current certification issued by the NCCPA;
  • Must be ACLS/BLS certified;
  • Current NYS registration as a Physician Assistant;
  • Must be able to interact with patients and their families in a manner that instills confidence and facilitates communication;
  • Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant educational program.
