OB/GYN Physician Job Description

The OB/GYN Physician monitors patient during prenatal, natal and postnatal periods and performs tests and prescribes medication and treatment, as necessary. Examines female patients to ensure a healthy reproductive system. Being an OB/GYN Physician requires a degree in medicine from an accredited school and is licensed to practice. Delivers babies, determining the method most appropriate to ensure health and safety of both infant and mother. In addition, OB/GYN Physician may require at least 2-4 years of obstetrics/gynecology experience. May report to a medical director. OB/GYN Physician’s years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position’s specialty is the main requirement.

Our company is looking for a OB/GYN Physician to join our team.


  • Other duties as assigned;
  • Participates in health promotion/disease prevention activities; stresses the importance of preventive health care measures;
  • Creating treatment plans;
  • Ensuring proper patient documentation is timely, accurate and complete;
  • Completes records in adequate professional detail, and in a timely manner using WCF electronic medical record system (eCW);
  • Responsible to initiate consultation requests to sub-specialists;
  • Responsible to prescribe medication(s) and monitor side-effects of medication and adverse reactions;
  • Responsible to treat women who are having reproductive issues;
  • Three half-day sessions per week covering ambulatory gynecology with a focus on family planning and contraception at the Gouverneur clinic;
  • Coverage of Bellevue labor and delivery, approximately 2-3 calls per month;
  • Full support staff;
  • Responsible to take, evaluate, and record medical histories;
  • No nights;
  • Responsible to treat problems within your scope of competence and exercise judgment on problems requiring consultation, referral or evaluation;
  • Responsible to perform all duties and responsibilities as delineated in your deeming and scope of services as approved by the Medical Director.


  • Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state(s) of practice;
  • Must be able to respond to the hospital within a 20-minute period for call;
  • Provides both clinic and hospital-based OB-GYN services;
  • Bilingual is a plus;
  • Graduate of four-year U.S. Medical School or equivalent. Residency completed in OB-GYN;
  • Follows guidelines set forth in Legacy’s Values in Action;
  • Completion of accredited OB-GYN residency program;
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABMS);
  • MD or DO Medical Degree;
  • United States Residency and / or Fellowship training;
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice medicine in the State of Georgia;
  • Active Florida license;
  • Certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology;
  • Eligible to obtain a New York medical license or already be licensed in New York State;
  • Completion of a Family Planning Fellowship.
