Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Assesses, plans and evaluates patient care needs including obtaining patient history and assessing for labor risk factors;
- Carries out physician orders;
- Instructs and educates patients and families;
- Manages the patient’s pain including epidural and patient controlled analgesia administration management;
- Cares for patients requiring fetal assessment/fetal monitoring;
- Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems;
- Serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well coordinated patient care;
- Assists physician during delivery, treatment, examination and surgical procedures;
- Administers prescribed medications and monitors vital signs;
- Age specific admission and ongoing assessments are completed, documented and used to develop a plan of care.
Requirements:
- BLS;
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program);
- ACLS;
- Customer service abilities including effective listening skills;
- Current BLS and ACLS certification through the American Heart Association;
- Current licensure as an RN;
- NRP Certification;
- Minimum 1 year previous experience as a RN in Labor & Delivery preferred;
- Experience in couplet care and postpartum care preferred / required;
- Must have at least 2 years experience as a Registered Nurse;
- Must have at least 2 years experience as a Labor and Delivery Nurse;
- Experience in antepartum and postpartum care;
- Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification or within 12 months of hiring;
- NRP certification with in 12 weeks of employment;
- Current AL RN license or a participating Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) license.
