Registered Nurse (RN) Med/Surg Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) Med/Surg to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, monitors vital signs;
- Instructs and educates patients and families;
- Orients and mentors new staff members;
- Carries out physician orders;
- Assesses and coordinates patient’s discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team;
- Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems;
- Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required;
- Provides age and culturally appropriate care;
- Participates in Quality Improvement activities;
- Ensures that all physician orders for patients under their care are noted and correctly transcribed;
- Facilitates and helps to promote a positive working environment;
- Demonstrates an on-going knowledge of hospital and unit performance improvement processes and participates in the process;
- Independently assesses and evaluates patient needs;
- Basic life support training should be completed in 90 days with advanced training required at certain intervals;
- Davids Healthcare Partnership through a positive interaction with all visitors on the unit.
Requirements:
- ACLS;
- CMSRN (Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse);
- BLS;
- Must have at least 3 years experience as a Registered Nurse;
- Must have an Active RN License to practice in the State;
- Must have at least 3 years experience as a Med Surg Nurse;
- Requires current state of Indiana license as Registered Nurse;
- Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred;
- Requires that the RN has graduated from an accredited nursing program;
- Basic life support training should be completed in 90 days with advanced training required at certain intervals;
- You’ll also need a current RN license in our state;
- We require a nursing degree from an accredited school.
