The Registered Nurse (RN), Operating Room collaborates with surgical team to strategize, implement and evaluate an individualized plan of care for each patient. Provides professional nursing care to assigned operating room patients throughout the perioperative period. Being a Registered Nurse (RN), Operating Room evaluates and monitors patients’ condition, maintains patients’ medical records, and documents patient’s progress. Assists physicians during examinations and surgical procedures, using and monitoring medical equipment as necessary. In addition, Registered Nurse (RN), Operating Room administer medications, including narcotics, as directed. Functions in a scrub and circulating nurse role. Requires graduation from an approved nursing program. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. May require a Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification. Requires a state license to practice. Registered Nurse (RN), Operating Room’s years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position’s specialty is the main requirement.

Our company is looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Carries out physician orders;
  • Orients and mentors new staff members;
  • Maintains aseptic techniques and actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique;
  • Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems;
  • Ensures the proper handling of specimens;
  • On-call staff will be required to assist “on-call” for the rest of the facility as needed and outlined in the clinical “on-call” policy;
  • Adheres to performance standards designated for their position;
  • Coordinates the operating room with respect to sterility, cleanliness, availability of functioning equipment and supplies;
  • Manages all assigned personal supplies and equipment and promotes teamwork with all members of the health care team;
  • Assists physician during procedures;
  • Responsible to take one in three call nights & weekends in a low volume OR;
  • Administers prescribed medications, applies dressings, monitors vital signs;
  • Assesses, plans and evaluates the nursing care needs of the patient before, during and after a surgical procedure;
  • Provides age and culturally appropriate care;
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Requirements:

  • PALS;
  • NRP;
  • Must have an Active RN License to practice in North Dakota;
  • ACLS;
  • Must have at least 3 years experience as a Registered Nurse;
  • Must have at least 3 years experience working in Operating Room / Circulate;
  • BLS.
