Resident Care Assistant Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Resident Care Assistant to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates knowledge of and follows infection control procedures;
- Reviews resident Service Plans as needed to gain and maintain a familiarity with resident services needs and preferences;
- Helps with individual resident and group social/recreational activities as requested and encourages resident participation in activities;
- Helps residents with medications and/or treatments as indicated in the medication book and as assigned and allowed by regulation;
- Adheres to and conveys a philosophy that supports the dignity, privacy, independence, choice, and individuality of residents;
- Monitors for changes in resident needs, preferences, and/or health status and reports/documents any changes according to established procedures;
- Monitor health, safety and well-being of Residents;
- Assist Residents with activities of daily living; including bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, hygiene and mobility;
- Assist in the development and updating of each Resident’s service plan;
- Follow the service plan in providing services to Residents;
- Encourage socialization among Residents;
- Practice safety in working and with use of equipment, chemicals, tools and utensils;
- Document information pertaining to changes in Residents’ functional status, personal needs, appointments, etc;
- Report concerns about Residents to Supervisor and coworkers;
- Reports any abuse, suspected abuse, or alleged abuse to the appropriate supervisor and/or agencies.
Requirements:
- Must meet in-service training requirements;
- Must be able to organize and use time appropriately to accomplish assigned tasks with minimal supervision;
- Must be able to read, write, and understand English;
- Must be able to work well with others and function effectively as part of a team;
- Must be well-groomed and willing to follow dress requirements;
- High school diploma or GED preferred;
- Must have a desire to work with the seniors in an environment that upholds their privacy, dignity, choice, independence, and individuality;
- Must be at least 18 years old;
- Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 pounds, to occasionally lift more than 50 pounds, and to spend long periods of time walking/standing;
- Must have a general understanding of the needs of seniors;
- Experience performing care-giving tasks preferred;
- Must have a willingness to learn and to teach others;
- Must have a clean criminal record, as determined by a criminal record clearance;
- Must be free of communicable disease;
- Must be able to physically/mentally perform tasks, as verified by a health screening that includes TB clearance (if required).
