RN Charge Nurse Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a RN Charge Nurse to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Identifies patient goals and approaches;
- Serving as a clinical resource for staff members;
- Implementing the staffing plan for your scheduled shift;
- Interpreting assessment/diagnostic data including labs;
- Performs resident reviews on admission, monitors the health status on a continuing basis, and documents all findings in the electronic clinical record;
- Obtain report from nurse he/she is relieving and record sufficient information to implement appropriate follow-up action as necessary;
- Recognize values identified within the Mission and Philosophy Statement as critical and central to the purpose of St. Patrick’s Manor;
- Respond to all staff, family members and residents in a courteous, patient and caring manner;
- Make rounds with physician and record visits in chart;
- Other duties as assigned by Director of Nursing;
- Insure that all medications and treatments are charted “after the fact” by the person administering the medication or treatment;
- Receives report on patient/resident status from previous shift, evaluates and ensures resources in place to meet needs;
- Observes, evaluates, and documents resident condition or changes in resident condition;
- Documents resident care provided and resident’s response or lack of response to care provided;
- Recommend changes needed in staff, according to number of residents and their needs.
Requirements:
- Management/leadership experience preferred;
- One (1) year of previous experience preferred;
- Requires frequent lifting (up to 50 pounds), bending, stooping, kneeling, etc;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Basic Computer skills;
- Current CPR certification or willingness to obtain;
- Possess leadership skills;
- Ability to prioritize and make sound nursing decisions within scope of practice;
- Current license by the State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse with experience in the long-term care industry preferred;
- Current license with VA Board of Nursing to practice as a Registered Nurse;
- Must be a graduate of a state approved school of nursing and carry a current State of Indiana nursing license;
- Must be able to work closely with residents who have a variety of acute or chronic illnesses, or disabling and emotional conditions;
- Current license with Virginia Board of Nursing to practice as a Registered Nurse;
- Current license with > Board of Nursing to practice as a Registered Nurse;
- A preference for contacts with people, as in supervising and instructing nursing team members.
