Safety Technician Job Description

Safety Technician I inspects work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety policies and regulations. Responsibilities also include documenting safety inspections, citing dangerous areas/procedures and recommending corrective procedures, and maintaining safety equipment supply and availability. Being a Safety Technician I may require a bachelor’s degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. To be a Safety Technician I typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed.

Responsibilities:

  • Administrative responsibility for the safety program on projects assigned;
  • Assist in the investigation of serious accident and major environmental incidents;
  • Assist in the planning, preparation and presentation of safety training as needed;
  • Assist in maintaining the database related to safety program and write reports necessary;

  • Must be able to climb ladders and navigate through construction areas safely;
  • College degree in Safety, related discipline or equivalent;
  • Ability to work in conditions that include frequent outside environment with exposure to inclement weather;
  • 2+ years of experience working in the safety field.
