Surgical Tech Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Surgical Tech to join our team.
Responsibilities:

- Collect and label specimens taken during surgical procedure;
- Certified Surgical Technician Certification OR 2 years scrub experience in an OR setting;
- Ensure the preparation and maintenance of the sterile field;
- This is a 1.0 FTE posiiton (0630am start);
- Perform scrub functions;
- BLS;
- Duties may also include functioning as a Unit Support Technician and in the OR core;
- Perform instrument counts prior to each procedure;
- Secure and prepare all supplies required for surgical intervention;
- Follow all federal, state and departmental safety procedures.
Requirements:
- Must maintain current certification to remain in the job;
- Requires 15 continuing education units annually as required by state law;
- Requires 0-3 years or more experience;
- Requires strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding maintenance of sterile field;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required;
- Requires eligibility for certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist obtained from the NBSTSA;
- Unit level activities-participation on unit based committees, participates in unit projects, and assists coordinators with tasks;
- Requires maintaining Basic Life Support Certification;
- Assists with presentation of unit in-service and/or a presentation for the AST class;
- Requires surgical technologists certification within six months of employment for those surgical technologists hired after July 1; 1999;
- Requires knowledge of name and function of surgical equipment and instrumentation;
- Licensure/certification/registration: Appropriate state RN licensure required. BLS Healthcare Provider required. ACLS, PALS preferred;
- Licensure/certification/registration: Current Surgical Tech certification or experience requirement required;
- One year of relevant experience preferred.
