Our company is looking for a Telemetry Technician to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Completes EKG interpretations including: rate, regularity, PRI, QRS, QTI, QTc, ST segment, wave form alterations, and rhythm interpretation;
  • Ensures strip interpretations are validated by RN;
  • Continuously observes all monitors assigned and responds to alarms promptly and appropriately;
  • Displaying a “customer service” attitude toward patients, visitors, and other staff members at all times.

Requirements:

  • Licensed Paramedic, LPN with EKG training, or RN nursing student with EKG training preferred;
  • Must complete and pass EKG class for Monitor Techs and required competencies on SERC within 30 days of start date;
  • Successful completion of basic EKG-training during the first two weeks of orientation;
  • Communicates effectively and diplomatically;
  • Maintains behavior consistent with philosophy of Memorial Medical Center;
  • Respects and maintains confidentiality;
  • For offsite telemetry patients, the HR, rhythm, and any ectopy will be documented each shift;
  • Performs other related work as required or requested;
  • Knows hospital policies and job responsibilities;
  • Appropriately files all rhythm strip information each day in the patient’s electronic health record;
  • Continually observes cardiac monitors, leaving the area only when relieved by qualified, trained personnel;
  • Able to function calmly in stressful situations;
  • Knows line of communication and authority;
  • The patient’s heart rate, rhythm will be recorded every 2 hours on the telemetry worksheet;
  • Recognition of lethal arrhythmias and STAT notification to the RN assigned to the patient. The event will be documented in the patient’s chart.
