Telemetry Technician Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Telemetry Technician to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Completes EKG interpretations including: rate, regularity, PRI, QRS, QTI, QTc, ST segment, wave form alterations, and rhythm interpretation;
- Ensures strip interpretations are validated by RN;
- Continuously observes all monitors assigned and responds to alarms promptly and appropriately;
- Displaying a “customer service” attitude toward patients, visitors, and other staff members at all times.
Requirements:
- Licensed Paramedic, LPN with EKG training, or RN nursing student with EKG training preferred;
- Must complete and pass EKG class for Monitor Techs and required competencies on SERC within 30 days of start date;
- Successful completion of basic EKG-training during the first two weeks of orientation;
- Communicates effectively and diplomatically;
- Maintains behavior consistent with philosophy of Memorial Medical Center;
- Respects and maintains confidentiality;
- For offsite telemetry patients, the HR, rhythm, and any ectopy will be documented each shift;
- Performs other related work as required or requested;
- Knows hospital policies and job responsibilities;
- Appropriately files all rhythm strip information each day in the patient’s electronic health record;
- Continually observes cardiac monitors, leaving the area only when relieved by qualified, trained personnel;
- Able to function calmly in stressful situations;
- Knows line of communication and authority;
- The patient’s heart rate, rhythm will be recorded every 2 hours on the telemetry worksheet;
- Recognition of lethal arrhythmias and STAT notification to the RN assigned to the patient. The event will be documented in the patient’s chart.
