Our company is looking for a Ultrasound Tech to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Participates in standby coverage of the unit;
  • Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations;
  • Analyzes sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and discusses findings with the radiologists;
  • Instructs/communicates with patient and/or patient�s family regarding the test to be performed and assesses patient�s ability to tolerate exam;
  • Uses independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings;
  • Uses sound professional judgment in dealing with unexpected outcomes and resolving conflicts. Consults available resources as appropriate;
  • Maintains medical imaging records in appropriate system and according to department policies and standards for interpretation in a timely manner;
  • Participates in instruction of student technologists, and provides general education to hospital staff in ultrasound procedures;
  • Maintains confidentiality of information pertaining to clients, physicians, employees, and Mercy business;
  • Maintains a daily log of patients seen, completes exam verification for billing purposes, and performs related clerical duties as required;
  • Coordinates work schedule with scheduling desk to assure workload coverage;
  • Takes action to meet the needs of patients and the department in the absence of specific directives;
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment;
  • Prefer prior sonographer experience;
  • Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and care with the ability to inspire and motivate others;
  • Must pass vascular boards within 1 year in this position;
  • Must pass general sonography boards (Abdomen or OB) within 1 year in this position;
  • Must be BLS certified;
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide service/care appropriate to the age of the patients served;
  • Willingness to adapt to changes in workload, procedures and schedule;
  • Demonstrates general working knowledge of computers and a willingness to learn department specific software;
  • Must be RDMS registered;
  • Accepts accountability for performance; strives to carry out responsibilities with attention to delivering optimal patient care.
