Our company is looking for a Wound Care Nurse (RN) to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete MDS documentation for Skin Condition (Section M) for all facility residents;
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of nursing and other clinical education programs;
  • Attend staff meetings, in-service classes and committee meetings;
  • Participate in weekly wound team rounds;
  • Act as a liaison between the Wound Specialist Physician and the nursing staff;
  • Establishes competencies for clinicians regarding wound care;
  • Collaborates with other members of the Education Department on joint educational initiatives;
  • Collaborate amongst Interdisciplinary Team to encompass all aspects of care to promote wound healing;
  • Assist in the implementation of individualized treatment plans for each assigned resident;
  • Participate in the development and achievement of Wound Care Program and objectives;
  • Perform all other duties as requested;
  • Communicate in a positive, caring, and helpful manner with residents, family members, and other staff;
  • Develops educational modules for wound care to be used for internal and external education, including teaching tools for patients and families;
  • Respect the dignity of each person;
  • Works under the direction of the Director of Education on nursing education projects and initiatives related to skin, wound and ostomy management.

Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently and 10 pounds constantly;
  • Ability to work and stand 80% of an 8 to 12 hour shift;
  • Certified BLS or completion in first 90 days of employment required;
  • Excellent presentation skills and organizational skills required;
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field preferred;
  • WCC certification, CWCN, CWOCN or CWS is preferred or certification pending within one year;
  • Valid State RN License required. Previous hospital nursing experience required;
  • Current NYS RN license required;
  • Excellent time management skills;
  • Ability to perform effectively in fast-paced, stressful environment;
  • Excellent physical assessment and critical thinking skills;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Confers with the Director of Nursing and/or other licensed nursing personnel regarding dermatologic disorders of residents in the facility.
