Wound Care Nurse (RN) Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Wound Care Nurse (RN) to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Complete MDS documentation for Skin Condition (Section M) for all facility residents;
- Evaluates the effectiveness of nursing and other clinical education programs;
- Attend staff meetings, in-service classes and committee meetings;
- Participate in weekly wound team rounds;
- Act as a liaison between the Wound Specialist Physician and the nursing staff;
- Establishes competencies for clinicians regarding wound care;
- Collaborates with other members of the Education Department on joint educational initiatives;
- Collaborate amongst Interdisciplinary Team to encompass all aspects of care to promote wound healing;
- Assist in the implementation of individualized treatment plans for each assigned resident;
- Participate in the development and achievement of Wound Care Program and objectives;
- Perform all other duties as requested;
- Communicate in a positive, caring, and helpful manner with residents, family members, and other staff;
- Develops educational modules for wound care to be used for internal and external education, including teaching tools for patients and families;
- Respect the dignity of each person;
- Works under the direction of the Director of Education on nursing education projects and initiatives related to skin, wound and ostomy management.
Requirements:
- Ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently and 10 pounds constantly;
- Ability to work and stand 80% of an 8 to 12 hour shift;
- Certified BLS or completion in first 90 days of employment required;
- Excellent presentation skills and organizational skills required;
- Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field preferred;
- WCC certification, CWCN, CWOCN or CWS is preferred or certification pending within one year;
- Valid State RN License required. Previous hospital nursing experience required;
- Current NYS RN license required;
- Excellent time management skills;
- Ability to perform effectively in fast-paced, stressful environment;
- Excellent physical assessment and critical thinking skills;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Confers with the Director of Nursing and/or other licensed nursing personnel regarding dermatologic disorders of residents in the facility.
