The X-Ray Technician produces diagnostic radiological examinations to aid in the diagnosis of disease. Arranges patients for radiological examinations. Being a X-Ray Technician performs portable X-ray examinations. Prevents patient from being exposed to unnecessary radiation. In addition, X-Ray Technician develops exposed X-ray film. Performs administrative duties, such as scheduling appointments, patient instructions, film-filing, and maintenance of records. Requires registration as a technologist by the ARRT. Requires an associate’s degree. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. Requires registration as a technologist by the A.R.R.T. Responsibilities:
- Performs a variety of patient care activities to assist physicians including procedures, EKG’s, phlebotomy and injections;
- Performs other related duties as assigned;
- Triage patients;
- Verify insurance;
- Maintains supplies, equipment, practices OSHA safety standards, performs accurate, legal and ethical documentation at all times;
- Protect patients, yourself and staff from radiation exposure which meet recommended industry standards;
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed;
- Assist with coordination of x-ray maintenance, repairs, and certification/registration updates;
- Performs patient x-rays;

Requirements:
- Ability to work weekends and holidays;

- Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow;
- Skill in operating phones, personal computer, software and other IT systems;
- Must have skills in patient care and radiation safety;
- A valid and current license by the state of Maryland;
- Associate degree or certificate from an accredited institution required;
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule;
- Ability to operate equipment without assistance;
- Computer literacy;
- Current ARRT certification;
- Current CPR;
- Knowledge of EMR/EHR helpful;
- 6+ months of Radiological Technologist experience;
- Strong attention to detail.
