Automotive Mechanic I performs maintenance and repairs on automobiles and light trucks. Provides miscellaneous mechanic works, including but not limited to body work, diagnosing, disassembling and assembling components and engines. Being an Automotive Mechanic I performs all duties according to safety procedures. Typically requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Automotive Mechanic I typically reports to a supervisor. The Automotive Mechanic I works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be an Automotive Mechanic I typically requires 1-3 years of related experience, or may need 0 years of experience with additional specialized training and/or certification.

Our company is looking for a Automotive Mechanic to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and install computer based equipment;
  • Other tasks as assigned;
  • Install and repair hard wire and multiplexed electrical systems;
  • Trouble shoot and diagnosis of electrical systems on emergency vehicles;
  • Demonstrate excellent internal customer service, including communicating with staff regarding timelines of necessary repairs and maintenance;
  • Maintain a clean and a safe work space;
  • Complete basic automotive services like oil changes, filter replacements, and various automotive repairs and preventative maintenance;
  • Identify needs and service machinery in priority order.

Requirements:

  • ASE Certified Preferred but not required;
  • 2-4 years of experience working as an auto mechanic;
  • At least three (3) years of professional automotive, fleet and/or grounds equipment maintenance experience required;
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed;
  • Computer literacy required. Ability to use a work order and/or ticketing system;
  • Must be able to lift or move medium to heavy objects, and have the ability to stand, stoop, bend and stretch for long periods;
  • Must have good organizational skills;
  • Read and interpret technical maintenance manuals, circuit, diagrams, and blueprints;
  • Ability to successfully complete a background check subject to applicable law;
  • 2+ years of Automotive Repair Experience;
  • Must possess the skills to read, comprehend, and execute written procedures;
  • Adhere to safety standards and practices established by the University safety procedures;
  • Knowledge of operation and use of gasoline, diesel and liquid propane gas fuel systems;
  • Valid driver’s license;
  • Must be an automotive mechanic / technician that is a self-starter, self-motivated and willing to learn.
