Avionics Technician Job Description

Avionics technicians are specialists who repair and maintain a plane’s electronic instruments, such as radio communication devices and equipment, radar systems, and navigation aids. As the use of digital technology increases, more time is spent maintaining computer systems. The ability to repair and maintain many avionics and flight instrument systems is granted through the Airframe rating, but other licenses or certifications may be needed as well.

Our company is looking for a Avionics Technician to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates proficiency of Elliott Aviation work order system by completing accurate and timely discrepancies and corrective action statements;
  • Performs minor troubleshooting and repair of aircraft avionics systems and components in relation to system installation;
  • Supports, maintains, and complies with all Environmental, Health, and Safety, for federal, OSHA, state and local regulations;
  • In a timely manner, will be responsible for making critical decisions regarding aircraft safety;
  • Must be able to effectively troubleshoot all aircraft systems;
  • In a hangar environment, a technician will be performing avionics inspections, routine maintenance (eg foqa downloads) and troubleshooting systems;
  • Other duties as assigned;
  • Will be responsible for proficiency in all documentation and paperwork, including parts paperwork.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrates technical skills and expertise in avionics and aircraft systems operational testing and troubleshooting;
  • Demonstrates effective repair techniques using acceptable practices including splicing, soldering and pinning of wiring;
  • Ensures quality and efficiency of all installations: troubleshoots processes/concepts to provide timely, quality repairs of malfunctioning systems;
  • Complies with the company FOD program, tool control program, 5-S program and all safety regulations;
  • Conducts functional and operational tests to evaluate performance and reliability;
  • Ensures that all work performed on the aircraft is properly and completely documented and ready for inspection;
  • Adapt to sudden schedule changes;
  • In support of aircraft certification and final phase testing, may include flight tests on aircraft as required;
  • Sets up and operates necessary test equipment;
  • Tests and maintains test equipment, electronic systems, and components;
  • Must have A&P License;
  • Must meet physical requirements associated with performing avionics tasks;
  • High school graduate or equivalent;
  • Subject to random drug testing and a background check;
