Our company is looking for a Cable Technician to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, adjust,and resolve problems in structured cabling systems;
  • Meets attendance standards and complies with late/absence notification procedures;
  • Measure, cut, bend, assemble and install cable tray using measuring devices and hand tools;
  • Perform fiber optic cable installation and terminations of all types;
  • Correctly set up and operate copper and fiber optic testing equipment;
  • Perform overhead and underground layout and rough-in;
  • Performs other project related duties and assignments as instructed by supervisor;
  • Assemble and install relay racks, network cabinets, wall fields and associated components;
  • Conduct thorough inspections of cable lines to ensure the system is working correctly;
  • Terminate CAT6 cable;
  • Install, and run CAT6 cable;
  • Terminate CAT6 cable;
  • Pulling and routing CAT 5 or CAT 6 cable in a new construction commercial environment;
  • Terminating phone jacks and dressing and terminating distribution frames (66 or 110 blocks, patch panels);
  • Installing support structures (ladders, racks, j-hooks).

Requirements:

  • Ability to identify different colors and learn color codes;
  • Communication skills with the ability to successfully collaborate with other members of the team;
  • Strong knowledge of industry standard cable specifications;
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving history;
  • Commitment to abiding by OSHA and all other safety standards and procedures;
  • Must pass a background check and drug screen;
  • Ability to comprehend and operate appropriate testing equipment (e.g. signal level meters, ohm meters);
  • Terminating data cable;
  • Rack and stack work, closet work, putting together server racks, patch panels;
  • High school degree;
  • Fiber experience including Anaerobic Terminations, SC and LC Connectors, and Splicing;
  • Experience with digital multi-meters and testing cable;
  • Your own basic telecom tools including punch downs, snips, wire strippers, cordless drill, PPE (safety gear), etc;
  • Familiarity with BICSI, EIA, TIA, or NEC Standards;
  • Experience with CAT 5 and CAT 6.
