Diesel Mechanic Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Diesel Mechanic to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews, completes or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports;
- Maintain parts inventory and cleanliness in the shop;
- Perform Federal DOT inspections to ensure compliance;
- Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments;
- Operates industrial powered lift truck as required;
- Drives commercial vehicle waste routes in Ketchikan when needed;
- Opportunity for overtime weekly;

- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain Thermo King refrigeration units and auxiliary power units;
- Examine components and general state of vehicle engine to diagnose issues accurately;
- Ensure equipment and tools are properly maintained;
- May be required to operate a company vehicle to diagnose and repair equipment as part of a road-side service call;
- Diagnoses complex mechanical and electric problems utilizing diagnostic technology/software when applicable;
- Other duties and projects as assigned;
- Performs daily inspections and repairs on entire fleet.
Requirements:
- Maintain parts inventory and cleanliness in the shop;
- Experience working with equipment such as: boom lifts, scissor lifts, and forklifts;
- Accuracy;

- Ability to perform routine and corrective maintenance on pipeline valves and pump station equipment;
- Hands on with welding, electrical work, and hydraulics;
- Work experience satisfactory to JFI hiring manager(s);
- 2+ years working on utility or agriculture vehicles;
- Ability to maintain parts inventory process;
- Modern methods, equipment, materials, and tools used in repairing medium and heavy equipment and trucks, and other gas-powered equipment;
- This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test.
