Diesel Truck Mechanic Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Diesel Truck Mechanic to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Ability to work in a team-based environment;
- Provide superior customer service to clients;
- Ability to work with little or no supervision;
- Make road calls when component failure is in remote location;
- Complete required paperwork to reflect hours, parts and lube, which are utilized within each job function;
- Perform diagnostic inspections on general truck-tractor systems utilizing both mechanical diagnostics and system software diagnostics;
- Perform repairs to truck-tractor components;
- Perform preventative maintenance inspection of truck-tractor components;
- Assist in other areas as needed by manager;
- Maintain Hostler fleet and other equipment.
Requirements:
- Must be willing to work any shift, including nights and weekends in any weather condition; flexible work schedule;
- Should be self-starting and organized;
- Drug Screen;
- Must be able to use hand tools and test equipment;
- Must be able to comply with all company policies, rules, procedures and Code of Conduct;
- Must possess the ability to keep up with changing technology and updates;
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations;
- Must possess the strength and stamina required to work with heavy equipment and work in awkward positions;
- Successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and physical;
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background;
- Physical activities include: walking, lifting, twisting, turning, climbing a ladder, etc;
- None required;
- Must know general repairs and PM criteria;
- Must have own tools;
- Must have a valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus although not required.
