General Automotive Technician Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a General Automotive Technician to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Assist other technicians in performing technical activities;
- Continuously learn new technical information, equipment, tools and repair techniques;
- Professionally record findings so that repairs costs are accurately estimated;
- Explain problems discovered during vehicle inspection to service writers and technicians;
- Inspect, diagnose and repair vehicle automotive systems;
- Remove and Reinstall Transmission systems;
- Keep store management aware of mechanical repair problems and inventory supply needs;
- Transmission Removal and Installation;
- Maintain an organized work environment;
- Total Car Care & Preventative Maintenance;
- Continuously learn new information and techniques, including cross training of POS software;
- Continuously learn new information and techniques;
- Total Car Care/R&R experience preferred;
- Ability to accurately diagnose transmission problems, TCM, PCM, Solenoids, electrical issues;
- Ability to perform misfire, evap, brakes, etc.
Requirements:
- Own professional grade tools to service any general repair need;
- Must be punctual and bring a positive attitude to work everyday;
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems;
- Ability to communicate solutions to others;
- Experience troubleshooting and conducting both mechanical and electrical diagnostics, including drivability testing;
- Minimum of 2+ years’ experience working as a General Automotive Technician;
- Minimum of 2+ years’ experience working as a General Automotive/R&R Technician;
- Minimum of 3+ years’ experience working as a General Automotive/R&R Technician;
- ASE Certification preferred;
- Hold a valid driver’s license (required);
- Minimum of 5+ years’ experience working as a General Automotive/R&R Technician;
- Inspection and Emissions license;
- A/C Refrigerant handling certification preferred;
- Appropriate Diagnostic tools necessary for service performed;
- Be proficient with schematics and flowcharts.
