Master Technician Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Master Technician to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain company directed productivity, training development plan, and comeback performance levels;
- Perform job duties of all lower job descriptions (Technician B, Mechanic, General Service Technician);
- Maintain an organized and neat shop;
- Keep store management aware of mechanical repair problems as they occur;
- Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order;
- Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended;
- Road tests vehicles when required or refers to the test technician;
- Supervises work of any apprentice technicians as assigned;
- Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts;
- Keep shop area neat and clean;
- Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events;
- Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and performs repair;
- Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins;
- Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards;
- Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
Requirements:
- 1-2 years of related experience in the automotive service environment;
- Strong verbal communication skills;
- Valid driver’s license;
- Ability to work Days, Nights, Weekends, Holidays;
- 2-4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Team player with a positive attitude;
- Ability to work alone, self motivate and manage one’s own time;
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form;
- Physical ability to use computer hardware/software;
- Maintain stall in an orderly and clean manner;
- Ensures that customer’s cars are kept clean;
- Knowledge in all aspects of automotive repair and maintenance;
- Fast learner;
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and information;
- Excellent customer service skills.
