Mechanic Assistant Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Mechanic Assistant to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Test drives vehicles to ensure repairs are properly completed;
- Updates maintenance and repair logs;
- Assists with inventory maintenance of replacement parts and equipment;
- Inspects tools and equipment to ensure that they are in working order;
- Cleans the shop and returns tools to proper locations;
- Performs other duties as assigned;
- Conducts safety checks on vehicles;
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures;
- Assists senior technicians in the completion of project work;
- Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate and OSHA standards;
- Performs minor repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services;
- Completes required paperwork, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times;
- Assists with service calls for breakdowns;
- Assists in the repair and adjustment of equipment;
- Performs other maintenance related work as required.
Requirements:
- Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, reach and move as needed;
- Exposure to gasoline vapors and other mechanics fluids;
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- Must be at least 18 years of age;
- 1+ years of experience in heavy equipment or auto repair desirable;
- Excellent mechanical skills;
- Ability to multitask and work independently;
- Must have, or be willing to acquire, a class A driver’s license and must have an insurable driving record;
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs;
- Legally eligible to work in the United States;
- Able to work early mornings, evenings and weekends as needed;
- Must be able to work in the field, as needed, in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and extreme cold;
- Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position;
- Ability to use hand and power tools.
