Merchandiser Job Description

Merchandiser works within a retail environment to effectively merchandise products by applying appropriate store-wide and/or corporate-wide standards. Works closely with store sales staff with regard to shelf maintenance and trains staff on appropriate merchandising standards. Being a Merchandiser often responsible for promotional signage. May oversee one store or a group of area stores. Additionally, Merchandiser may require a bachelor’s degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Merchandiser gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. To be a Merchandiser typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience.

Our company is looking for a Merchandiser to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend all scheduled meetings and be an active participant;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned;
  • Manage, rotate and maintain back-stock where applicable;
  • Attend all training sessions;
  • Build, merchandise and maintain all secondary and promotional displays to conform with company standards;
  • Valid driver’s license;
  • Stocking shelves;
  • Repackaging of good requests. (Special Handling);
  • Support the Sales Department through safe and efficient product placement and display building;
  • Organize, stock and remove any damaged or outdated products (beer and non-alcoholic beverages) in Grocery Stores;
  • Turning product labels so that all labels are facing the consumer’s eye;
  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma preferred (GED);
  • Assist with expedition of hot shipments to stores;
  • Decision Making: Must decide proper channels for communication flow depending on project at hand;
  • Enforce company standards and image.

Requirements:

  • Drug test and Background check required;
  • Experience working independently and managing time commitments to meet established service goals;
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred and minimum of 1-year work experience required;
  • Experience in problem solving skills;
  • Demonstrated leadership skills;
  • Previous sales, merchandising or pull-up experience preferred;
  • Skill in organization, time management, prioritization, and attention to detail;
  • Field related experience (DSD system preferred) but not required;
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to delegate effectively;
  • Experience working cooperatively with others;
  • Apparel and/or Distribution background is a plus;
  • High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate;
  • Permanent, legal right to work in U.S;
  • Experienced in reading and comprehending simple instructions, correspondence, and memos;
  • Required to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
