Preventative Maintenance Technician Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Preventative Maintenance Technician to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Complete accurate work order reporting on a timely basis with SMS and SourceNA;
- Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends;
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments;
- Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments;
- Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts;
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges;
- Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment;
- Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance;
- Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs;
- Conduct other related assignments as needed;
- Learn and gain expertise on new equipment and processes;
- Complete preventive maintenance on CNC machinery and auxiliary equipment according to the planned schedule;
- Organize and maintain maintenance areas and stockroom.
Requirements:
- Good mechanical skills required;
- Minimum Type I and II C.F.C. certification;
- Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills;
- Able to form and execute a plan;
- Mechanically astute and able to recognize and think through problems;
- Maintenance degree or certification preferred;
- Valid driver’s license;
- Interact with on-site management; keeping them informed of repair and maintenance progression, and addressing their concerns in a professional manner;
- Demonstrate proficiency by performance and/or certificates with basic mechanical aptitude and standard hand holds;
- Experience in refrigeration pipefitting and installation;
- N.A.T.E. certified for Core, preferred Specialty as well;
- Show hands-on ownership of issues to achieve a timely resolution;
- Material handling maintenance;
- Must have basic welding skills required (Oxy / Acetylene, Mig and Arc);
- Ability to speak effectively before Site Lead and customers or associates of organization.
