Provides legal advice to an organization, prepares resolutions, reports, guidelines and participates in major legal actions. Being an Attorney I works closely with other departments to foresee and protect company against legal risks. Participates in Legal department initiatives such as template agreement development and recommends to senior management on how to respond to legal issues or proposed changes in laws and regulations. Additionally, Attorney I requires a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. Requires admittance to a state bar. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Attorney I work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be an Attorney I typically requires 0-2 years of related experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Drafting and negotiating multi-party agreements for engineering-led deals to expand Azure into new global markets;
  • Counseling and advising clients on a wide variety of complex and developing cloud-related legal, regulatory, and data protection issues;
  • Collaborate with legal department colleagues and policy specialists on various legal and regulatory issues;
  • Structure, draft and negotiate complex licensing and collaboration agreements;
  • Provide legal support for customer engagements, including meeting with customers during executive briefings;
  • Drafting and negotiating various third-party services contracts;
  • Advising management and HR on legal aspects of associate relations matters;
  • Advising on various employment-related compliance matters, including responses to regulators;
  • Advising on some aspects of client contract negotiation;
  • Advising management and HR on pre-employment and post-employment legal matters;
  • Dispute resolution, litigation management, and document production;
  • Working closely with team members in a collegial atmosphere to maximize value provided to clients;
  • Leading the investigation and resolution of associate relations complaints;
  • Navigate through unfamiliar jurisdictions and processes in order to appeal and settle claims;
  • Navigate through various computer systems and applications to find information about insurance claims.

Requirements:

  • Law degree (JD, LLB or equivalent) from an accredited US law school with excellent academic credentials;
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills and attention to detail;
  • Desire and ability to work as part of a team and with diverse groups and cultures;
  • Keen business sense, ability to think strategically, and desire to establish a trusted advisor relationship with business and engineering clients;
  • Admission to and in good standing with the state bar of at least one U.S. state, including the state bar requirements of CA and/or WA as applicable;
  • Strong academic record required;
  • Strong legal drafting and analytical skills;
  • Success in a collaborative work environment;
  • Must be admitted and in good standing with the New York State Bar;
  • 1-3 years’ experience in workers’ compensation defense;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;
  • Basic working knowledge of medical terminology and diagnostic procedures;
  • 3+ years’ experience as an attorney (MUST);
  • Juris Doctor and a member in good standing of the Missouri State Bar;
  • Minimum five (5) years of directly transferable experience on U.S. Government contract matters. Ten (10) years legal experience preferred.
