Senior Counsel, Privacy Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Senior Counsel, Privacy to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Lead outside counsel relationships as necessary;
- Review products, programs, agreements and initiatives to advise on privacy/data security, consumer protection and content/media laws and regulations;
- Respond to privacy and security-related customer and regulatory inquiries and investigations on a global basis and draft regulatory filings;
- Act as subject matter expert and resource on issues related to privacy, security and data protection;
- Provide legal guidance to internal teams on privacy matters that affect the company, with an eye towards how it impacts the company globally;
- Work effectively across business units and internal functions to resolve complex business and risk management issues;
- Draft external privacy notices and disclosures;
- Establish and manage internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with global laws bearing on privacy and cybersecurity.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated analytical experience, including experience assessing risk from a privacy and data protection perspective;
- Comprehensive understanding of U.S. data privacy and security laws (e.g., CCPA, COPPA, HIPPA);
- Ability to multi task and to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast paced environment;
- Ability to formulate creative solutions to accomplish business objectives;
- Law Degree and member of US state bar in good standing;
- 8+ years total legal work experience, with at least three years at a large law firm advising on data privacy matters;
- Certifications such as CIPP, CIPM are a big plus.
