Trust & Estates Paralegal Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Trust & Estates Paralegal to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Draft estate planning documents and address estate administration issues;
- Maintaining attorney calendars;
- Assess IRA distributions for decedent and collaborate with attorney to offer tax consequences to beneficiaries for IRAs and annuities;
- Communicate and document findings with memorandums and diagrams;
- Responsible for obtaining tax identification numbers for estates and trusts;
- Review, analyze, and summarize client estate planning documents to identify areas for improvement;
- Prepare inventories, accounts, petitions and pleadings;
- Make income payments to trust beneficiaries;
- Prepare ancillary estate administration documentation;
- Identify assets requiring protection and handle documentation necessary to effect sale or transfer of assets;
- Maintain and organize clients’ digital files, documents, and data;
- Maintain financial records of trusts and estates;
- Communicate effectively with the client’s team of professionals inside and outside of AdvicePeriod;
- Review and interpret wills and trust agreements. Work with attorney in drafting estate planning documents;
- Draft estate planning, trust, and probate documents.
Requirements:
- Prior experience preparing legal documents;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Great attention to detail;
- At least five years of Trusts and Estates paralegal/legal assistant experience;
- Advanced MSOffice skills and editing ability;
- Experience filing trust and estate documents in DC, MD, and VA;
- 2+ years of trusts and estates paralegal experience.
