Facilities Planner Job Description

Facilities Planner offers professional services on assigned projects concerning design, construction, development, or installation of buildings and facilities. Oversees construction progress, ensuring that timing, costs and contract requirements are adhered to. Being a Facilities Planner supervises construction, equipment installation, renovation and redesigning projects. Works with management to review design changes, equipment specifications/substitutions, purchasing and accounting procedures. Additionally, Facilities Planner develops and designs feasibility studies for review. May require a bachelor’s degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. To be a Facilities Planner typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.

Our company is looking for a Facilities Planner to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and gather information on potential items/materials that could be used in the building projects;
  • Other duties as assigned;
  • Manage individual projects assigned from the Company’s strategic facility plan as it relates to real estate and construction projects;
  • Coordinate with supply chain, legal and any other necessary departments for all contracts and scope of work for projects assigned;
  • Review and approve field changes as needed, making routine field visits to provide inspections as to timeliness and quality of work;
  • Meet with Architects, government officials, contractors and others as needed to provide guidance and approvals to complete projects;
  • Work with project consultants and user groups to ensure finishes are applied in accordance with SIT standards;
  • Ability to perform space planning such as departmental re-configurations and design;
  • Provide the administration, departments and their consultants with updated floor plans and space planning-related data;
  • Collect and coordinate data from departments required for space planning;
  • Assist the Director of Facilities Planning on multiple projects;
  • Produce project drawings and graphic displays as needed for the project’s schematic development, including test-fits and layouts;
  • Coordinate CAD files and other planning or project documents with consultants and Project Managers to update the SIT space inventory;
  • Review furniture dealership quotes for accuracy and completeness;
  • CAD drawings and 3D Renderings.

Requirements:

  • Preferably higher education design experience or concentration in school work;
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in Interior Design and Space Planning;
  • Must be proficient in AutoCAD, Power Point, Sketch Up, Photoshop, MS Office; Archibus a plus;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or Planning.
