Medical Technologist II Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Medical Technologist II to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Enters test results and workups into the laboratory information system;
- Monitors section quality control and preventive maintenance programs to ensure test accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements;
- Performs all approved laboratory procedures in assigned licensure specialties, as required to meet workload demands;
- Monitors the day to day technical operation of one or more sections of the clinical laboratory;
- Maintains competency in performance of all pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical virology lab procedures;
- Works closely with the Directors to provide effective oversight of the section;
- Testing includes real time PCR, setting up and reading viral culture, ELISA antibody assays, and rapid viral antigen testing;
- May be required to assist with bench teaching of MLS students.
Requirements:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in medical laboratory science/medical technology or biological science required;
- MLS/MT ASCP Certification or eligible;
- or;
- Ability to perform basic computer skills (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, LIS);
- Bachelor?s degree and completion of at least a 12-month training program in Medical Technology, or;
- ASCP certified;
- Minimum five years related experience preferred;
- Minimum one year related Virology/Molecular/Serology experience preferred;
- Licensed for all areas as a Medical/ Clinical Technologist in the state of Florida;
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
