Assistant Director of Nursing Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Assistant Director of Nursing to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance tasks, as directed;
- Answer call bells and assist as able;
- Supervise and guide nursing staff on their daily job duties;
- Evaluate performance of nursing department and recommend improvements;
- Respond to all staff, family members and residents in a courteous, patient and caring manner;
- Assess psychiatric needs in accordance with house psychiatrist for psychiatric admissions;
- Direct Medicare assessments and related documentation;
- Assume responsibility for nursing service compliance to federal, state and local regulations;
- Consistently work cooperatively with hospital administration, nursing personnel to observe Resident’s Rights at all times;
- At least 2 years nursing supervisory experience required;
- Monitor nursing personnel to verify that they are following established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies;
- Inform the Director when physician visits are not made in a timely manner;
- Attend in-service education programs in order to meet facility educational requirements;
- Manage the initial training and on-going the education of the staff;
- Ensure quality customer service.
Requirements:
- Perform Essential Duties as outlined above;
- Basic computer knowledge and ability to learn computer software;
- Comply with the Residents’ Rights and Facility Policies and Procedures;
- Good communication skills with excellent self-discipline and patience;
- Professional experience in the practice of geriatrics, nursing administration, and other related areas;
- Sit or stand for extended periods of time;
- Previous experience as a Assistant Director of Nursing and/or Staff Education preferred;
- At least two years of Nursing experience, at least one of which has been in an Administrative, Supervisory capacity;
- Experience in health care or long term care;
- Management experience;
- Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as in state;
- Strong desire to work with the elderly;
- CPR Certified;
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN), in good standing;
- Ability to perform physical and mental requirements of the job.
